Who doesn’t want more comfort in their home? I know I do. My home needs to be the perfect place to wind down after a long day. If it’s not, it affects my mood negatively. If you connect with that, check out these 5 ways to bring comfort and have a house you love.

The bigger blankets, the better
I didn’t know real luxury until I got a king-size blanket for Christmas one year. And it’s not only loved by me, it’s my daughter’s favorite as well. Me, my daughter, and my husband can all comfortably use it together on the couch. But when I have the blanket to myself, I wrap it fully around my body like a cocoon. I never have to adjust it to keep my toes covered. That alone makes it worth it. It’s also perfect for a pillow fort.
Honestly, I would recommend it to anyone and everyone. It’s also a great idea if you’re looking for a gift for a friend or family member. I couldn’t have been happier to get it as a gift. The one I have is from IKEA. Unfortunately, I can’t find it in the online store now. But if you put “King size blanket” into google many similar options pop up.

Self care with scented candles
I love scented candles. Especially after cleaning, lighting one feels like a reward to myself. As a result, it brings me immense comfort. Whatever I choose to do afterward feels nicer and more enjoyable. In fact, it’s the easiest form of self-care I know. That’s why I really miss having them when I run out. I love placing them in different spots when I have people over. At the very least, I make sure there’s one in the foyer. That way, the delightful smell greets guests as soon as they walk in.
Right now, my favorite scents are floral scents and any type of fresh smell for the bathroom. I’m interested in trying out soy scented candles since I heard they were nontoxic and better for the environment. If anyone has tried them, Contact me and please let me know what you thought!

Comfort in a clutter-free home
Getting rid of excess clutter has changed my house for the better. The best way to feel comfortable at home is to clear out the extra stuff. Focus instead on what brings beauty, coziness, and joy. I’m not saying you need to live a minimalist lifestyle. Just make space for the things that really matter. Start by letting go of worn-out, uncomfortable blankets, towels, and bedsheets. Replace them with fewer, nicer ones—and see how you feel after. Notice how your home feels afterward, too.
Once I decluttered, my favorite decorations finally had a place to shine. They no longer got lost in a sea of things I didn’t even like. Now, my home is easier to clean, looks better, and feels better. It makes me proud instead of stressed when people come over. Most of all, it makes my life simpler and more comfortable.
It doesn’t hurt to test it out for yourself. Place a box where you can see it. Try to find a couple of things that you don’t love and place it in the box every day. Then see how you feel at the end of the week as well as how your home feels. Do you want more information getting rid of excess? Better with a blackout curtain
The reason blackout curtains make your home more comfortable is because it reduces uncomfortable feelings. Who hasn’t tried to get some sleep with the sun shining in their face because of shitty curtains? Or tried to watch TV during the day but the sun hits the TV and completely ruins the experience? Well, I have. The solution? Well-fitted blackout curtains.
Sure, some other curtains look more comfy and luxurious. But there is no rule against having both. Blackout curtain in the windows and the aesthetic curtains from the ceiling down. If you don’t feel like having 2 different curtains for the same window, you’re in luck. Blackout curtains come in all different colors, shapes, and sizes. Remember, even though having a nice-looking house is great, comfort is key to enjoying it.

Find Comfort in Every Corner
It’s important to have a good feeling about every room in the home. Having the most amazing living room isn’t enough. Not when a cluttered, cold, or messy foyer frustrates you every time you come home. You want to keep the good feelings going when you move from one room to the next. It’s hard for most people to keep every room clean. I have I hard enough time with a toddler running around. I can imagine how hard it must be for a big family. So how can you keep your comfort and love in your home through different cleanliness stages?
One way to do that is by putting something you love in every room. Soap in the bathroom with your favorite smell. The hallway filled with family pictures or pretty throw pillows in the living room and bedrooms. I love to put in artwork and mirrors. I put one of my favorite painting in the foyer. Which is the spot that somehow always gets messiest in my home. It helps me look past the occasional mess and find something in the room that brings me joy and comfort.

When Your Space Reflects You, It Feels Better
Personalize your space to reflect who you are. Having every room fit with your personal style makes you feel more at home in it. That alone can bring immense comfort and joy. The only place I haven’t gotten to personalize is my laundry room. Even if I clean it spotless, it’s still my least favorite room to walk in. Make sure you pick out colors, furniture and decor that fits your personality and vibes.
You can check out Pinterest for ideas. Just remember that seeing a space in a picture and living in it are two different things. Don’t pick a color scheme you normally hate just because it looks great in pictures. Also, don’t fill your home with living plants just because they look good. It’s not worth it if taking care of the feels more like a hassle than joy. Make your space work for you. Only then will you enjoy it comfortably.
Wishing you comfort and joy in every corner of your home. Until next time, Maria.
